Yesterday turned out to be a wonderful day! I found out that my disability claim has FINALLY been approved and I’ll be receiving my lump sum backpay check sometime next week and a regular check every month after that as long as I am disabled. I am SO relieved!
This means I can get myself something to drive, take care of my own personal expenses, and, best of all, get my OWN place to live. I’m free of being dependent on my mother and other members of my family, which means I’ll be FREE of their control. No more being used as the family slave/scapegoat. I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from my shoulders.
Now I can begin scheduling more frequent counseling sessions and I can start participating more freely in programs that will help me get my social anxiety and depression under control. I can schedule appointments for badly needed medical care that I’ve been putting off because I didn’t have transportation and actually get out of the house and go somewhere just because I feel like it. For the first time in so long, I finally SEE the light at the end of the tunnel. I actually believe there’s hope for getting my life back.
