Feeling Better

I’m feeling better now. I still miss my fish, but it’s hurting a little less now that my tank isn’t empty anymore. I went today and bought myself three new fish. They are black mollies and I got 2 females and 1 male, the ideal mix for breeding. It will be interesting to watch them have babies in the future. It probably won’t happen for a while though, because only one of the females is an adult. The male and the other female are still small and aren’t much older than babies themselves. They are so cute and look so tiny compared to my goldfish, which was almost 3 inches long when he died. The biggest molly is barely an inch and the other ones are even smaller.

I chose to get black mollies this time because they are stronger fish than goldfish and easier to take care of. They’re also very pretty fish and interesting to watch. They like to be in groups so it’s fun to watch them swim and huddle together. They’ve been in my tank for just over an hour now and, so far, they seem to be doing really well. The little male is very adventurous and swims all over the tank looking around but the two females are more shy and have pretty much stayed in the corner together. I haven’t given them any names yet so I’ll have to think of something soon.

My birthday is in a few weeks and I always get cash gifts from my parents, so I’m looking forward to using that money to buy some more stuff for my aquarium. I want to get it set up really nice and get the things I need to keep it clean and healthy for the fish. Keeping fish is a lot of work but it’s worth it. There’s nothing that relieves stress quite like sitting quietly and watching the fish swim around in their tank. It’s very relaxing.

Anyway, I’m doing better and that’s definitely a good thing. For a while there I was worried that my depression was going to get control of me again. Being depressed is definitely no fun.
