It was a great weekend for a yard sale, so we had one. Me and my sister gathered together all the junk we’ve been sick of and lugged it out onto the lawn, put up some signs around the neighborhood, and got rid of almost all of it. The rest we donated to goodwill. Of course, my sister handled all the customer stuff while I sat on the porch or stood inside the door and watched. I wanted to come out and help, especially a few times when it got busy, but my social anxiety just gets in the way. Just the thought of going out there and talking to strangers made me nauseous and I figured it would be bad for sales if I threw up on somebody, so I just stayed out of the way.
I made $39.50 on my stuff, which is really good considering all my junk was priced between 25 cents and a doller for each item. I sold all but 5 of the things I put out. I was really suprised. Things I thought wouldn’t sell, sold right away and the things I thought would get snapped up in a hurry were the things that got left behind. It just goes to show you can never tell what people will buy. I guess that old saying is true… One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.
My sister did really well. She put out a lot of my nephews old baby stuff that he’s too big to use anymore. Clothes, baby toys, the old pack-n-play, things like that. She made almost $230.
Overall, it was a good weekend but it sure was exhausting. I’m definitely going to pay for all that hard work. My back is sore, my right hip is killing me, my feet and ankles are swollen and sore, and my shins are aching the way they sometimes do when you overdo it. I’m going to sleep good tonight but I’m going to be so stiff and sore when I wake up in the morning, I’ll be lucky if I can get myself up out of the bed. I’m already starting to stiffen up just from sitting here.
Oh well, at least I earned enough to go to Wal-Mart tomorrow and get myself a new pair of tennis shoes. If I can get myself up, that is.
