Today is is the day for remembering the soldiers who throughout history have made sacrifices, and even given their lives, in the defense of this country. Whether we agree or disagree with any of the wars we’ve been in, it does not matter. The soldiers who stood out there and braved the battles are heroes and they deserve our respect. It is the soldiers who died on the battlefields that earned for us the very freedoms that allow us to protest wars and voice our opinions. Never let us forget that.
As we go through our day today, I hope that each one of us will stop for a few moments and think about those soldiers and their sacrifices. Remember the soldiers who are out there fighting now, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, or wherever they may be. Pray for them and their families. Pray for ourselves, that we may never take for granted the freedoms we have every day of our lives and the sacrifices it cost to get them.
