Wow, it’s been nearly a month since I’ve written here, or written anywhere for that matter. I never intended to let my writing fall by the wayside. I’ve just been so busy living life, I never seem to find the time to write about it. Even my paper journal hasn’t seen an entry in weeks. Life is good though. Very good and I’m enjoying every minute of it.
As you can see, my little baby, Slippers, is growing. She’s nearly doubled in size, her eyes are wide open now, and she’s an active, curious little character. She has my two older, male cats completely wrapped around her little paws. They absolutely adore her and so do I, even if she does wake me up at night wanting to play and leaves scratches all over my legs from trying to climb into my lap. I just love watching her try to imitate the older cats and do everything they do. She’s totally oblivious to the fact that she’s much smaller than they are right now. She’s completely convinced that she can do anything they can do and she refuses to quit until she finds a way to do it. Amazingly, she’s able to succeed most of the time. Of course, that leads me to finding her in some very odd places, like the time I found her on top of the refrigerator. She apparently followed my other cat, Zeb, up there since it’s one of his favorite spots. I have no idea how she managed to get up there but she couldn’t get herself back down, so she sat there and meowed her head off until I came to rescue her. As soon as I put her down, she was off and running to another adventure.
After 6 weeks, I’m still loving my job. It gets better and better every day and doesn’t feel like a job at all. I enjoy myself so much there, it almost feels strange to get paid for it. My boss and the other people I work with are great and I really feel at home there. I look forward to going to work everyday and that’s apparently a rare thing these days. I hear so many people complain about having to go to work. I’m absolutely loving every minute of it.
One of the best benefits to my new job is finally having some money to do things I’ve been wanting to do. One of those things was buying a piece of exercise equipment I’ve wanted for a long time. I finally got it and have been working out 6 days a week for the last 2 weeks. I’m taking it slow and building up the length of my workouts gradually to avoid any injuries or other problems and I’m doing quite well at it. I’m very proud of myself and I’m feeling better and better every day.
In my spare time, I’ve managed to do at least a little bit of reading, although not nearly as much as I used to do. My recent reads have been The Da Vinci Code and another book called Cracking Da Vinci’s Code, a direct rebuttal to The Da Vinci Code. My main purpose in reading The Da Vinci Code was because I had heard so much about it and the controversy it has caused among religious groups. As far as fiction goes, it was a very good book, definitely well written. But, in my opinion, that’s as far as it goes. It is merely a well written work of FICTION. I absolutely do not believe any of it as truth and it has not shaken my faith in Christ one bit. Dan Brown has merely been successful at inserting just enough factual information in the right places to make the entire book appear true when, in fact, it is not. Unfortunately, many people who are confused about religion or simply seeking an easier way to “spirituality,” will be drawn in by it and mislead to the point of being lost to the real truth and that is unfortunate. Satan has been doing this since the beginning of time and as we get closer to the return of Christ, he is becoming more and more desperate to draw as many people away as possible. This kind of thing is definitely not new. I strongly suggest that anyone who reads The Da Vinci Code should also read Cracking Da Vinci’s Code to get a more balanced view prior to making a decision about what is truth and what isn’t.
I’m now reading a book called The Purpose Driven Life, which appears to be another good read. I’m not far enough into it to comment yet, but what I’ve read so far is very good. And, of course, the best daily reading material is always my Bible. No matter how many times I’ve read the Word of God, it’s always fresh and there’s always something in it that speaks to me and draws me closer to the Lord. As long as I keep my relationship with God strong and steady, through worship, prayer, and God’s Word, there is no book on earth that could ever shake my faith, no matter how realistic it may seem.
