Ohio Woman Grateful for Hang-Up Call
I was reading through some news articles yesterday and came across the article linked above. It was a powerful reminder of how God can touch a person’s life in a very dramatic way.
The article tells the story of Mary Dhume, who was sitting in her chair watching televison when the phone rang. She got up to answer the phone but there was no one on the other end. As she hung up, a pickup truck came crashing into her home, collapsing her living room wall onto the chair she had been sitting in just a moment before. Had she been sitting there, she would have been seriously injured or possibly even killed.
Some might see that phone call as just a coincidence, but those of us who believe in a God that watches over us, can’t help but wonder if it was God on the other end of the line, calling at exactly the right time to save her life. I know, myself, that God does those kinds of things, gentle reminders that He is there, watching over every little detail. He cares about each one of us and if we trust Him, He will take care of us. Sometimes, it will be in dramatic ways, impossible to miss. Other times, He will be in the gentle whisper of coincidence, but you’ll know He’s there.
