Apparently, some of the issues I write about in this blog have gotten the attention of political organizations because recently I received an email from an organization called OneVoice Foundation asking me to visit their site and voice my opinion on the Federal Marriage Amendment. They also asked me to assist in getting the word out about their organization. Intrigued, I decided to check it out.
This is a quote from their About Us page explaining how they came about and the basic purpose of their organization:
OneVoice grew out of a conversation between two high school girls and their parents. While studying U.S. history, the girls observed that big money and big media have gained too much influence over American politics. They wondered whether there was a way to leverage the Internet to give power back to “the people.” They were surprised to discover that no one was consolidating voter expectations by legislator, communicating those results to each official, and then ensuring accountability by reporting voting records back to constituents.
OneVoice does not take a position on any issues and does not attempt to influence voters in any direction. It simply provides a means for the average american to be heard on the same level as big companies that spend thousands of dollars in an attempt to influence politics. OneVoice is trying to put government back in the hands of “the people,” where it belongs.
Starting July 12th, the United States Senate will begin debating the Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution with a vote scheduled for mid-July. OneVoice is collecting voter input and will present the information to the Senators on July 14th. If you would like your voice to be heard, please visit OneVoice Foundation and register your vote. Let your Senator know what YOU want!
