No Politics Please, Florida Students Tell Cheney.
Politics in this country have become a real joke. None of our politicians seem to be truly concerned with the real issues our country is facing anymore. They are more concerned with bashing each other and "winning" at all costs, even if it means ruining the graduation of hundreds of students who have looked forward to their graduation day for years. Graduation day is in some ways like a wedding day, it usually happens once in a lifetime and it's a very special day. Or, at least, that's the way it used to be. What right did Chaney have to use that platform for his own agenda? What went through his mind that told him it would be OK to do that? If I had been one of the students at Westminster College in Missouri whose graduation was marred by Cheney's political bashing speech, I would have been furious. As for Florida State University, I wouldn't take my chances. I would find another speaker.
It's time for the leaders of this country to put morality back into the political system. And I don't mean the surface morality they use to try to get certain voter groups to swing their way. I mean REAL morality! The morality that says a politician means what he says and is willing to stand up for what he believes in no matter what. The morality that says a politician's promises are real and not just campaign fluff to win votes. The morality that says a politician doesn't cheat the people while lining his own pockets. The morality that says a politician runs a clean, positive campaign without all the mudslinging. The morality that says "love thy neighbor as thy self." I'm sick of the greed and the backbiting that goes on among the leaders of this country. They act like a bunch of quarreling children!
Our political system is nothing more than a childish tug-of-war between the republicans and the democrats. No wonder nothing gets done in this country anymore. The politicians are too busy playing games. In the end, it doesn't really matter who wins, republican or democrat. We all lose!
