Protecting Children Violates Free Speech?

Court Bars Internet Pornography Law Enforcement

What is wrong with this picture? What is wrong with the leaders in this country? Since when does free speech guarantee ANYONE the right to expose our children to harmful materials? It makes no sense that the courts in this country will deny our children the right to pray in school, which is SPEECH the last time I checked, however they’ll not only block, but BAN, laws put in place to protect our children from pornography.

It is absolutely outrageous! The law they are banning does NOT in any way violate free speech. The law simply requires the operators of adult content websites to use credit cards or adult access codes and personal identification numbers to ensure that people accessing their material are adults and not children. It does not stop ANYONE old enough to legally access the material from accessing it. This law is no different than a liquor store being required to check ID’s before selling alchohol or another store from checking ID’s before selling cigarettes. It simply keeps the items restricted to those who are allowed to access them. How is the pornography law any different? The answer? It’s NOT!

This decision gives a loud and clear message that our children are not worth protecting. It’s more important to protect the rights of those who want to spread their filth to anyone and everyone they can. No wonder Playboy is getting away with sending advertisements and subscription offers directly to children while the U.S. Postal Service does absolutely nothing to stop it!

How can we trust the leaders of this country to make moral decisions on things like gay marriage when we can’t even trust them to make the LOGICAL decision to protect our children?
