Unexpected Surprises

Saturday, May 22, 2004 - 1:47 PM

Today has been a wonderful day of pleasant surprises.

It started off by waking up to a pleasantly cool morning, a refreshing break from the muggy, humid weather we’ve been having all week. It made getting dressed for Church a lot nicer than it would have been in the heat. Yes, I’m Seventh Day Adventist, so I go to Church on Saturday, the Biblical Sabbath. In addition to the nice, cool morning, the thunderstorms that were predicted for the entire weekend apparently disappeared during the night and and we can now expect a warm, sunny weekend in place of the rain.

My second surprise came just before leaving for Church. My mom was here to go to Church with me this morning and just before we were to leave, she presented me with a new CD that she bought for me. It is the Josh Groban CD I’ve been wanting for a long time. It has the song You Raise Me Up on it. I mentioned that song and posted the lyrics to it in this entry. I absolutely adore this song. It lifts my spirits every time I hear it. It’s just magical. I’ve listened to part of the CD already and, so far, I love all the music on it, even though some of the songs are in Italian and I can’t understand them, at least I think it’s Italian. Josh Groban’s music isn’t exactly the kind of thing you’d hear on a typical modern radio station, it’s not pop music, but he has the most beautiful tenor voice and his music is so relaxing. It’s the perfect thing to listen to when you just want to relax and de-stress yourself. I love to listen to it while reading my Bible.

The final surprise came after Church. We were on our way back to the house when my mother suddenly suggested we go to lunch, her treat, so we went to this nice little Chinese Buffet place. I had a very nice time with my mom and enjoyed being able to just sit and talk to her. It’s something we don’t do very often and it was a perfect way to spend the Sabbath afternoon.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you so much for the special little surprises you sent my way today. I love how You always send me little reminders of Your love just when I need them most.

In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen
